Newer Version of the Script

I have decided to change the characters names to JAMIE and SCOTT. I have also added an alternate beginning at the end of the script.

INT. BEDROOM – LATE MORNING

JAMIE wakes up and puts on a man’s shirt. The camera follows her from behind as she walks out of the bedroom switching to being in front of her as she walks through the kitchen. The camera cuts to her sitting on the couch looking at her from the front before panning down to the table. She begins fishing through photos scattered on the table and picks one up to look closer the camera follows this action.

She then looks sideways and gets up. The camera switches to an over the shoulder shot of her stood at the bedroom door where we see SCOTT standing at the end of the bed. They share an awkward moment before conversation begins.

JAMIE

Yeah. So, I have something I really

need to tell you. It’s kind of why I

called you. Here it goes. I’m

pregnant.

SCOTT

What?

JAMIE

What?

SCOTT

What?

JAMIE

I’m pregnant...?

SCOTT

I’m the father.

JAMIE

Yes!

SCOTT

How could this happen?

JAMIE

I don’t know. I thought you were

wearing a condom.

SCOTT

No.

JAMIE

What?

SCOTT

I wasn’t.

JAMIE

Why not?

SCOTT

Because you told me not to.

JAMIE

What are you talking about?

SCOTT

What am I talking about? You told me

not to.

JAMIE

I did not tell you not to wear a

condom.

SCOTT

Here’s what happened, okay? I will

give you a play-by-play of my memory.

I almost had the condom on. It

was on the cusp and then you said,

“Just do it, already.”

JAMIE

I didn’t mean do it without a condom.

I meant “do it” like “hurry up”.

SCOTT

Why didn’t you stop me once we

started?

JAMIE

Oh, my God! I don’t know! I couldn’t

tell that you didn’t have one on!

Obviously, I was drunk!

SCOTT looks at her and sighs, close up on face.

JAMIE

You are unbelievable.

SCOTT

Okay, you know what? Maybe, I’ve

reacted unfavourably. So what happens

now? I don’t know how this works.

JAMIE goes into the bathroom and SCOTT follows her and stands in the doorway, he is visible in the mirror.

INT. BATHROOM – LATE MORNING

JAMIE goes to the bin to retrieve a pregnancy test she took the day before we see this from inside the bin looking up at her. She passes it to SCOTT and turns back to look at the mirror with her hands on the sides of the sink.

JAMIE

I am going to the doctor next

week...and I thought you could come

with me to the gynaecologist.

SCOTT

So you haven’t seen him, though?

JAMIE

No.

SCOTT

So you don’t know if you’re pregnant.

JAMIE

Well, I’m not a hundred percent sure.

SCOTT

You’re not a hundred percent sure. I

bet you’re not pregnant.

As SCOTT begins to speak JAMIE washes her face the camera follows this action. When she looks back up, the camera follows, we see he has vanished.

INT. BEDROOM – LATE MORNING

JAMIE returns to the bedroom, the camera following from behind. She sits on the end of the bed the camera goes to a close up of her face before switching to a mid shot. She looks down at her stomach whilst placing her hand on it the camera switches to a close up before switching back. After a few moments she looks over at her phone, the camera switches to her POV before switching back, hesitating whether to call SCOTT or not.

Alternate Opening for Filming at a House Instead of an Apartment (Changes underlined)
